How can you help?
Introduction Letter
Hello;
I’d like to introduce you to a very special young lady named Christina Barnett. Christina is not your typical teenager, but a strong, smart, organized girl with big dreams and the strength and will to achieve those dreams for herself.
Christina is not only a full time student, but takes on huge volunteering efforts within her community. She is a show secretary for Simi Valley Riders, a local Gymkhana (horse) group spending countless hours at the actual shows and all week working to help better the show and family environment it creates. She also has taken on the position of director of the local National Barrel Horse Association District 10 in Simi Valley; a job that did not have very many odds in her favor. In one year she has grown the district and created a fun, safe, family environment for amateur and professional barrel racers to compete; not an easy task! She has organized fundraisers for the clubs, taken on building and maintaining their websites and computer programs, and the list goes on.
On top of all of this, she is an avid softball player whose team has won numerous championships and is active in this community as well. In the past, she has raced BMX Bicycles and currently rides her own dirt bike with family and friends. She is family oriented and takes care of her younger siblings when the need arises. Again, this is one organized, smart, and strong girl that has many friends and a wonderful family.
Christina is now the one in need. She has contracted MRSA, an antibiotic resistant staff infection. She was in the hospital for just about a month, mostly in ICU, and has had to have 2 surgeries to remove the infection from her body. While she has recovered from the pneumonia, the surgeries resulted in 80% of her thigh muscle having to be removed, along with part of the bone. The bone will grow back, but the muscle will not,; creating a need for a muscle graph which insurance does not cover. Christina deserves to grow up with a whole leg, and this is where we need your help.
We are having a fundraiser to raise funds for Christina and her family in this time of need. The fuel bills for her family going to and from the hospital alone were enough to create a hardship and the hospital bills are now just starting to come in!
This is where you come in! We are actively looking for Sponsors and donations for our fundraiser which is going to be held at the Arroyo Simi Equestrian Center in Simi Valley on October 15, 2011. This will be a family fun event with a Playday Horse Show and Jackpot Barrel race, Corn Hole Tournament, food, vendors, etc. Attached are some sponsor packages that are suggested for this extremely worthy cause. We are happy to create packages to fit individual needs because we believe that no amount is too small to help as much as we believe in promoting those who step up to help!
Please contact us for more information and thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely;
Julie Lane
